WELCOME

Newland-Port Elliot congregation is open for worship on Sunday Mornings at 10 am, In the Newland Building at the roundabout on Victoria Street, Victor Harbor.

Our services are classic but not conservative, with hymns and songs played by the pipe organ or grand piano, and friendly rather than formal.

There are opportunities to share good news and points for prayer. Visitors are always welcome, and invited to morning tea.

There is a ramp at the rear door for easy entry for those who wish to avoid steps.
There is also an area just inside this door for those who need ‘to park’ a mobility aid such as a wheelchair.

There is parking at the rear of the church with easy access to the ramp. Enter Wills St from the Esplanade along the seafront then into the church grounds.

WHY UNITING?

Not only are we enthusiastic about the Uniting Church and the Basis of Union which brought together the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches back in 1977, but we believe we are called to work together with others in uniting the Christian Church today. The song goes “they will know we are Christians by our love” is as true today as when it was written. Bringing together Port Elliot Uniting Church and Newland Memorial Uniting Church in Victor Harbor is only the first step in preparing ourselves for the future.

OTHER WAYS OF BEING CHURCH

We are always on the lookout for new ways to provide worship and other spiritual experiences for ourselves and those in our community.

Reflections on Thursday mornings from 10 am -11 am gives a quiet time to reconsider life while the organ or piano is played –

Come along when you can, and leave when you need.

Following Reflections at 11 am we cross Wills St and go into the hall for tea, coffee and cake.

And of course lots of chatting with new and old friends.

Visitors, tourists and all are welcome to share in this ecumenical time.

If you cannot arrive in time for the music, come for the coffee and cake.

We occasionally offer mid week services, such as Ash Wednesday or All Saints Day, and we are open to other styles of worship such as in the style of Taize or Iona.

STUDY AND PRAYER GROUPS

We meet in people’s homes or in the church hall throughout the year to learn, share and pray together. These are places where our faith really connects with our life outside of Church, and the issues raised enable growth and better understanding.
